About

I was driven to design as I feel it is a very important aspect of people’s everyday lives, and it affects the way we operate in the world around us. Things like icons, symbols, colour, text and layouts affect how someone uses a product and so my belief is that when designing, the purpose of the product should be clear, it should be accessible, it should be visually appealing and it should reflect the identity of the brand or individual.

Background

I had a strong passion for design from a young age and have always selected courses that helped me to develop my knowledge across various platforms and allowed me to learn a wide array of skills.

During my time in secondary school I studied Graphic Design and Media Studies as part of my GCSE’s, which are the subjects that truly caught my interest in design initially. I also excelled in IT, gaining an additional GCSE in the subject and I took part in different extra curricular activities which helped to develop my skills, such as using Google Sketchup to create a 3d model of a building for a science competition.

At college I studied Media Studies, Product Design and Computing which helped me develop more technical skills; such as 2D design/CAD, wireframing, coding skills, filming/photography techniques, 3D modelling, creating nets for product packaging and also being able to translate a clients written brief and vision into an actual design/product.

Finally I studied Digital Media at both Undergraduate and Masters levels during my time at University, it was here I really polished my skills and started creating full websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript & PHP, creating mobile apps and learning about mobile first design and how to successfully implement it, editing videos to a higher level, and finally about branding as well; using software such as Photoshop and Illustrator to create branding such as logos and icons and designing them to reflect the identity of the brand or individual itself.

More About Me

Aside from design, I also do photography 📸, either on the side or as a hobby. I have taken pictures for various events and taken some headshots/group photos and whenever I travel or go on holiday I love to take pictures of architecture, wildlife and nature.

My other hobbies include travelling 🛫 (I have been to 14 countries across 4 continents and plan on going to many more 🌍), fitness (I’m a regular at the gym 🏋️‍♂️ and also go swimming 🏊‍♂️), sports (big football fan ⚽) and gaming 🎮
